Biography: Philip is the Medical Affairs Director at Thermo Fisher Scientific. Prior to this position, he worked at the Institute of Medical Genetics and Pathology in Basel, Switzerland, where he was leading a clinical research lab as well as the routine molecular diagnostics team for solid tumor profiling. Philip has longstanding experience with using next-generation sequencing technologies in clinical routine cancer testing and has also been involved in the development and evaluation of NGS assays for research and clinical purposes.
Presenter: Marco Volante, Professor of Pathology, University of Turin, & Director of the Pathology Unit, San Luigi Hospital, University of Turin
Biography: Marco Volante is a Professor in Pathology at the University of Turin and Director of the Pathology unit at San Luigi Hospital in Turin, Italy. He earned his PhD in Human Oncology from the University of Turin and gained experience as a research fellow at the University of Zurich and as a resident in pathology at the University of Turin. With expertise spanning borders, he contributes significantly to pathology research and education, fostering advancements in the field.
Presenter: Ahmet Eren Sayin, CEO and Managing Partner, Genetiks Genetic Diseases Evaluation Center
Biography: Ahmet Eren Sayın holds a Bachelor of Science and attended a Master of Science course at Ege University, Turkey, where he also held a position as a research assistant. He pursued specialised training in proteomics, microarray, next-generation sequencing, and bioinformatics in the USA from 2007-2009. With over 20 years of experience, including roles in medical genetics research and private laboratories, he has contributed to over 10 national research projects and numerous scientific papers. Since 2017, he has provided strategic leadership at Genetiks, overseeing its operations and technology.
Presenter: Dr Abdullah N Alsuwaidan, Chairman Clinical Genomics Department, Center for Excellence in Genomics Medicine Research – KFSHRC
Biography: Dr. Abdullah N. Alsuwaidan, a distinguished physician, graduated from the College of Medicine at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. He completed his residency at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2017, driven by his passion for pathology. Currently, he chairs the Clinical Genomics Department at the Centre for Genomic Medicine, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh. In this role, he oversees the molecular genetics laboratory, focusing on next-generation sequencing for hereditary and cancer genetics. His expertise spans various areas, notably hereditary cancer, breast cancer, thyroid cancer, lymphoma, and leukaemia.
