NTRK Fusion Testing

Detecting NTRK Fusions in Precision Oncology

The NTRK gene family encodes the TRK family of proteins—oncogenic drivers across multiple tumors in adults and children. NTRK fusions to unrelated genes result in overexpression and permanent activation of the TRK fusion proteins. Detection of NTRK fusions has become a primary need in precision oncology research. Scientific NTRK testing guidelines recommend RNA-based next-generation sequencing (NGS) assays as the preferred method for NTRK fusion detection.

NTRK Fusion Testing Guide

NTRK gene fusions can drive unregulated cell growth and proliferation in a range of cancer types. Recently, this pathway gained significant focus and attention in precision oncology.

Next-Generation Sequencing provides the most comprehensive view across a large number of genes and can identify NTRK gene fusions as well as other relevant alterations, with minimal sample tissue needed.
